The Imaging Research Core offers a variety of preclinical and clinical services based on a set rate structure. The core serves the CWRU and University Hospitals research communities, researchers and industry partners throughout University Circle and Northeast Ohio, and across the country.

Since its inception in 2005, the mission of the Imaging Research Core at CWRU has been to provide all regional investigators with comprehensive preclinical and clinical imaging capabilities and services to deliver in vivo and in situ imaging assessments of many diseases including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, digestive diseases, neurologic diseases and genetic diseases. The Imaging Research Core provides integrated comprehensive, state-of-the-art imaging capabilities for animal models, as well as pediatric and adult patients. The core is supported by an established operational and administrative infrastructure including fully-equipped imaging facilities, two core co-directors, and seven highly skilled staff members with more than 100 years of combined expertise to provide:

  1. high-volume preclinical bioluminescence and fluorescence imaging services;
  2. custom-designed radionuclides for preclinical PET imaging capabilities;
  3. novel in situ cryo-fluorescence imaging to direct cell/gene therapies;
  4. MRI and MR Fingerprinting assessments for mouse cancer models and for patients.

Importantly, imaging services are available to all regional investigators through established, compliant inter-institutional agreements and operational processes.
